Diana, Thank you for the introduction. I am very interested in appreciative inquiry also. I like the focus on abundance and what's right instead of defects and what's wrong. Traditional problem solving is useful, and AI is a refreshing addition. I'm with you on the f2f meetings/collaborations may happen from time to time. I'd like that too. How did you come to be here? a) Like many others, I came from another list or series of lists, in my lineage xpworkshop begat xpportland begat industrialxp begat the project management group I can't remember the name of (clearly not THERE anymore) begat agileprojectmanagerment begat resistance-as-a-resource. b) However, why any of these? An interest/career in organizational change practices/processes that collided with an affiliation/rapport in working with software groups and XP/Agile folks in particular. c) Appreciative Inquiry, my default(though not exclusive) working approach, takes a non-traditional view of resistance as finding value in that which is...which makes it a resource in any change effort. I want to learn more about how to work with this dynamic. d) And, since I've been using his "temperature check" description for some time, a curiosity about Dale Emery. ;-) > > 2. How do you feel about being here? Curious/overwhelmed/hopeful. I am fascinated by change processes in general and, as above, by resistance in specific, so I'm curious about what this list may uncover. I am overwhelmed and feeling a bit inadequate at the thought of another listserv to read and engage. I am hopeful that I will be able to contribute something of value. > > 3. What would you like to have happen here? a) Lively discussions about resistance we encounter in ourselves and others, including the resistance of organizations to process consulting b) Linkages with other folks who have experiences to share such that f2f meetings/collaborations may happen from time to time. I can't help it, in Jungian terms, I'm incurable in relying on EF. (Does everyone know about the Singer-Loomis? http://movingboundaries.com/ ) c) Resource sharing (e.g., see above) > And one more question: What else would you like us to know about > you? I'll be at several XP/Agile conferences over the next months and hope discussions at those events will arise out of this group. Live in Portland, OR. Travel some. I have successfully resisted writing this introduction for several weeks now. ;-) Diana Diana Larsen Industrial Logic & FutureWorks Consulting, LLC www.industriallogic.com www.futureworksconsulting.com "Asking the proper question is the central act of transformation."
