To the best of my recollection...

I became aware of this Yahoo group through your home page; I 
revisited that at some point after we started conversing about and 
through blogs. I started writing a blog because I've known for a long 
time that keeping a diary is one of the tools for Amplifying Your 
Effectiveness; I had been resisting keeping a diary, though, and at 
some point blogs came up as a way to sidestep that resistance.

We've also discussed blogs on the AYE wiki, of course. This isn't 
where we first met, Dale - it was on the XP list, I'm pretty sure - 
but I think of you primarily as one of the people who are into AYE 
and several of the initiatives I associate with Jerry Weinberg.

I became interested in Jerry's works because of the bibliography in 
the White Book - Extreme Programming Explained. I became interested 
in XP because I have been interested in software development for the 
past twenty years, ten of which as a professional. (I'm 33 now, if 
you are wondering.)

As far as I can recall, I have /always/ been interested in computers 
and computer-like things, with a preference for the software side 
over the hardware side which has grown much more marked over the 
years, but which I think was always there.

> 2. How do you feel about being here?

It feels strange to be writing this without knowing at all who else 
is there. I know that the list has nine members, so I feel curious to 
know who the seven others are. I feel confident that I'm going to 
learn something.

> 3. What would you like to have happen here?

I recall an extended conversation on the XP mailing list, in which  
you took part, and which was a transforming occasion for me. It was 
the start of a journey still ongoing. I'd like to hold conversations 
here which have some of that quality.

> And one more question:  What else would you like us to know about you? 

I'm a father to three wonderful sons, Axel, Erwan, and Mika. Most of 
all, I want to pass on to them whatever I can learn about how to be a 
person.
