Our conversations in this list have helped me to notice that my approach to resistance has (so far) said little about emotions and about how to nurture relationships. I want to shore up those things. Over the weekend, I finished reading a book from which I learned lots of ideas about empathy and relationships. The book is Don't Be Nice, Be Real, by Kelly Bryson. I blogged about it today: http://www.dhemery.com/journal/archives/2003-06/dont_be_nice_be_real.html The big idea for me in Bryson's book was the theme of empathy, which seems like an important part of making contact. I highly recommend Don't Be Nice, Be Real. See my blog entry for details.
