Uh, that's about all I experience on a daily basis, I think. Most 
conversations are frustrating in one of several ways, or more than 
one : can't connect with the person, mismatched vocabularies, one of 
us (or both) has an agenda, one of us is too tired to be fully 
present to the conversation...

I'll make an attempt. Please bear with me if I don't get it right on 
the first try (or the second, or subsequent ones).

As I recall it, I was complaining about a conflict in a professional 
context. I was rather free with details of the situation, what I had 
heard the other person say, what I'd said in response, how I felt 
about all that, etc. At one point people started asking questions 
that forced me to confront *my* contributions to the conflict, as 
logically prior to the other person's contributions.

There was something about the questions you specifically, Dale, were 
asking at that time. I can't quite put my finger on it; your recent 
blog entry "Sincerity" had a good description of the kind of question 
I'm *not* thinking about. The ones I have in mind are questions that 
were already mostly implicit in the speaker's original statement.
