Unless I'm just very unique, one of the issues for folks may be the way most
corporate "change management" courses are design. In the big companies I've
been associated with, I've found that the courses are designed to teach
employees how to be accepting of the inevitable change -- rather than
teaching responsible introduction of change, tools for shaping the change,
and channels for resisting when appropriate.

I think that was Leader's Forum 1995, in a sesssion that was
essentially one of my first resistance workshops.

Now I need to give proper credit. I was summarizing an idea from
William Bridges' book /Managing Transitions/. After briefly
describing three examples of "resistance," Bridges says, "It
isn't the /changes/ themselves that people in these cases resist.
It's the losses and endings that they experience and the
  /transition/ that they are resisting."

Yes. So one of the things I want to explore is how people's
responses give information about what losses they may be
perceiving. Sometimes it's easy. "I can't do that! My manager
would fire me!" Sometimes it's more subtle.
