Hmm. I just remembered a tidbit from European MiniCamp - I can't 
remember who mentioned this, but it seems that there is a Gallup poll 
of the things Americans are most afraid of. Somewhat surprisingly, 
"Public speaking" has an almost unshakable hold on the top spot, 
coming ahead of snakes, heights, flying and thunder, which I'd 
unhesitatingly classify as "fears of loss of bodily integrity".

(I say "almost unshakable" because Google turns up a page which 
mentions Snake getting to #1 in 2003 - that was something noteworthy 
to the page authors. Might be just a fluke, or a trend as the page 
authors suggest.)

There might not be a clear relation between that and what Brad was 
talking about. It does strike me as at odds with Maslow's hierarchy.
