Erik, I have done the can trick, and the manifold is not rusted on the inside. It actually looks new, except for carbon soot. For me, the mufflers rot from the outside in, so I keep painting them with grill paint. [It's handy paint for hams, because it is conductive, and works OK on antennas, or so I am told. No experiments, I just blindly follow.] A new manifold is about $200 from the dealer, and I do not find aftermarket ones, although I have found a few used ones for $100 or so. When I find a friend who is good with TIG and stainless, I will make a stainless steel muffler. I need to do that before I forget my acoustics for tuning the muffler to the engine and the RPMs. ha ha _______________________________________________ Vwdiesel mailing list [email protected] http://www.audifans.com/mailman/listinfo/vwdiesel
