Great advice Sandy, but I did just that. Put the body in, worked it until it seated fully, with the rotor "flush" (actually a few thou below flush) then put the lid on. It just didn't seem to oil up and I didn't grease it, not thinking it wouldn't oil up, so it galled, left a nub on the lid and chewed the heck out of it. :-(
Thought I had a spare diaphragm pump lying about but can't seem to find one. May have to yank one from another engine until I get something sorted out.

MAKE SURE IT IS FULLY AND PROPERLY MATED WITH THE OIL PUMP SO IT IS NOT
PRESSING THE ROTOR UP.
lEAVE THE TOP COVER OFF UNTIL YOU INSTALL THE PUMP AND ENSURE THE ROTOR IS
"FLOATING" INSIDE THE BARREL.
THE DRIVE TAB IS OFFSET AND YOU HAVE A 50% CHANCE OF GETTING IT WRONG.
