2001 Jetta TDi frozen alternator

hi all

wondering if my posts are making it to the list?

have tried to email several times recently, and nothing is showing up in 
the digest

help?

also:

2001 Jetta TDi ALH

serpentine belt exploded last night after going through a puddle

alternator does not turn in either direction, with belt removed

wondering if it might *possibly* be the clutched pulley??

or am I definitely looking at alternator replacement?

in which case:

- does anyone have a recommended brand? (Bosch, Valeo, etc)

- does anyone know a good DIY online? seems like the ALH is a lot more 
involved than the BEW
