Which pump is it? Depends on what the timing should be set to. None set to .80 or .85. The lowest I know if is some of the 1.5 and maybe early 1.6 pumps that set to .88 but can be set to .95 I believe, if performance is poopy.

There is fuel behind that bolt (thus the sealing washer). It's not unusual for fuel to come out when you pull the bolt. It's not mandatory though and may just let out a drop or two.

Post the VW number off of the pump (at least the last 3 digits and letter/s). I'm sure one uf us can tell you the correct tining.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Possible issue with IP?

Hi Volks, I may have an issue with my IP? When I checked and set the Timing
to
.95 fuel came out of the port that I insert my dial indicator into. I
did an
engine rebuild, ran the engine for a while and the power is not
there like
before the rebuild, I had the timing at .80 to start with then
went to change to
.85 and no fuel came out of that port? Is there a special
way to bleed the air
out of the pump, or do I have a IP
issue?
