teetering cantilever tripoint rock

wanting to get out of the house but not too far out on
a rainy sunday morning & feeling the rustiness of not
having made a real multipoint try in the flesh since
cokesh 
as reported here a few months ago
i set my sights today on kewawa 
or us2ct3li4kewawa to be exact 
a roadside tripoint of the towns of kent warren &
washington
which is situated literally on the shoreline of lake

here in litchfield county connecticut

the kent warren town line was easy to identify at the
nearby road crossing & to then follow along a fence
line the short distance to the waters edge
where no conventional border marker was anywhere in
evidence

but it soon became clear that the tripoint was indeed
marked 
by a huge & distinctive natural boulder that came to a
noticeable point in just the right place at the end of
the apparent town line & jutted out a short ways there
into the lake

as i made my way onto this rock & toward its most
protrusive point
which i took to be the exact tripoint indicator
its massive weight suddenly shifted like a seesaw 
& i fully expected to fly headlong into the lake with
the rock tumbling after me
until it stopped with a clunk 
at the more easterly of its two pivot or cantilever
points
& i ultimately regained my balance

after teetering the rock back & forth a few times i
satisfied myself that it wasnt going anywhere but just
up & down & back & forth a little

when i reached out to touch the point i could see that
the rock didnt just jut into the lake but actually
over the lake
so i had to wonder how the point of the rock
which was not on or above the shore
could mark the lakeshore tripoint
as well as a turnpoint on the washington town line at
the same time 
hmm

the lake level is controlled by a dam 
& there was no question that the point on the rock
overhung the lake regardless of water level

i finally shrugged & had to figure this was just a
neighborhood call 
to within a few feet of the truth 
& was most probably never meant to be absolutely
punctilious
