If you will view the photo at http://tinyurl.com/m9pmt , you will see 
that he was hugging his own right knee.  Both men were lying back on the 
ground in the tall grass.  I think that the photo's title implies only 
that it was taken during their hiking near the tripoint.  The photo at 
http://tinyurl.com/zvkeo from the same series is entitled "Berat & 
border," but one can only imagine where the border is in it.
