Babies and birth control; ecology & biology 101

I'm thinking of staying in the states and working on
starting a new cult/religion.

Its basic ethos will be to reward those whose actions most
benefit the group while shunning those individuals whose
actions benefit the individual at the expense of the group.

Where "the group" consists of all living things.

To avoid cultishness, the primary tenet, beyond the ethos,
will be: the most important thing one can learn is that no
one is better at deciding what is best for one than one's
self. To put it another way, one's most basic freedom is the
freedom to choose where to focus one's attention.

The members of my cult will consist of humans who consider
their tribe to be "all living things."

Given the present state of our tribe, we are aware that we
need to be more evangelical than the most evangelical
religions that have preceded us. In a few years, you will
not be able to walk five blocks down an NYC
sidewalk without encountering one of us encouraging you to
join our tribe. Whether you live in the suburbs of Virgina
or the wilds of Belize, you will soon get to know the local
missionaries of our tribe.

One reason that we must be so evangelical is that humans are
at present the single greatest threat to well-being of our
tribe. We will be leaders in encouraging humans of all
ethnicities & every social status to focus their care on the
billions of children (young and older--that means you)
already in the world, rather than giving birth to new human
children. In other words, we don't have the easy means of
growing our cult available to most other cults: biological
reproduction.

Why would anyone join this cult of humans that consider
themselves a member of the tribe all living things, and
relinquish the more commonly accepted human activites that
include things like biological parenthood, officework, and
car use?

Good question-

But when you meet our missionaries and see how healthy and
radiant they are and how much those on their path exude
meaning and fulfillment-

And when you see where we meet- in oaises of fruit & nut
trees, among plants & animals of all kinds, whether we're in
the heart of NYC (we'll construct a biosphere if we must) or
in the Serengeti.

And when you see how we live--

And when you see how we meet-

I imagine our meetings will be run-throughs of our personal
practices. They will be integral- engaging all parts of
ourselves and our relationship with the natural world.
Some song, creative movement, Quaker meeting, flora & fauna
communion, transformational imaging. It won't be all
gleeful- some of our members will be researching the
greatest atrocities and dangers facing our tribe, and we
will focus our attention there-- But they will also focus on
our successes.
