*'Phraseology as a Mirror of Culture – A Survey with Examples in Esperanto,
English and German.' by Professor Sabine Fiedler (University of Leipzig)*
The lecture will compare the phraseology of Esperanto with those of other
languages, especially English and German, and also address the impact that
English has on the phraseology of other languages due to its function as a

*Professor Wim Jansen (University of Amsterdam)* will present a short
epilogue: 'Esperanto, a gateway to lesser known cultures. Uncovering the
phraseological wealth of Basque.

*Sabine Fiedler*
<http://anglistik.philol.uni-leipzig.de/de/institut/linguistik/mitarbeiter/apl-prof-dr-sabine-fiedler>
is Professor of English linguistics at the University of Leipzig, Germany.
She holds a Ph.D. in English linguistics and a second degree (Habilitation)
in general linguistics / interlinguistics. Her research interests include
phraseology, textlinguistics, humour, translation and lingua franca
communication. She is the chair of the Society for Interlinguistics
(Gesellschaft für Interlinguistik e.V.).
