In lieu of a CD with all the forms, we use OMNIForm which allows us to scan in the form we need, keep it on file, use it as needed. Filled out forms can then be stored in a case file database. What that means is that once a subpoena--or any other form already used--is completed with case information, one has only to pull it up, duplicate it, and fill in the new information. Saves a lot of time and effort not having to completely fill in the blanks each time. Appx $200

Also, access to local and state court filings via the Internet is cost efficient in that it saves time in having to go to the court to look up filings, etc. Cost, at least in our state, is negligible--much less than the 30-60 minutes it would take to go look up the information. Appx $75-$100 per month. Depends on your state.

One thing I could not work without is the Clipmate program from Thornsoft. It allows me to make multiple cuts, then paste them in order in my document. It is wonderful for discovery documents. It also has a "safe" where you can copy in items you use all the time like the section symbol §. The price the last time I looked was $25.

I know these are small things but they are time savers and a convenience at a very small cost.

Also, a very good laptop with all the bells and whistles is a wise investment. Cheaping it out doesn't pay off. Those bells and whistles today will be the norm 12-18 months from now. It save money in the long run.
