I think this all depends on how much faith you have in attorney-client
privilege. (Much like the use of this forum.) Based on some of the
egregious things I've seen in my work with digital forensics--like
attempts to seize email containing privileged communications--I'm always
weary of leaving any trail. What I've done is set a filter on my email
client to alert me via text message when I have an email from a
particular address, rather than leave a copy in yet another location.
Then I can log in and view, rather than retrieve. Certainly an alias
would be less complicated, but I think this is a safer (spelled
borderline-paranoid) way to go. Of course, it has the added benefit of
not forwarding all my spam.
