Hello Arvin,

I think this is going to be a one on one conversation. Since no one else
seem to want to join in and that includes the owner. Yes, I have heard
about the Philippines. That SARS scare has been everywhere. So far we have
been lucky. The contagious disease department in Atlanta is afraid that it
will be like the flu and show up again next fall. I certainly hope not.
There has been enough people die from it. It reminds me of the great flu
epidemic during World War I that killed Rupert Brooks, the English poet. I
think that thousands if not millions died from that and a great many of them
were in the Armed Forces.

Terrorists attacks. When are they going to stop? They are hitting just
about every county and we had our 9/11 and we keep getting info that other
attacks are planned. I am afraid that they will start hitting cultural
building in different countries. Like our Statue of Liberty. The Tower of
London. The Eiffel Tower. Every country has something that would just
about break their hearts if it was blown up by terrorists.

I have read Peter Straub but not for a long time. In fact, somewhere in
this house are books of his. I have not heard of "Koko" or "Julia?"Are they
by Peter Straub? I might try the library for them. I just did an
Interlibrary loan for the first time. Rather confusing but I had the help
of a very nice Librarian. It turned out my problem was that I had to turn
the Fire Wall off first as it would not let me into WorldCat.

It depends on the type of nonfiction that you read. There is the biography
of Jesse James that is good. There are many types of nonfiction out there.
I don't like "The Lord of the Rings" and I don't like "Harry Potter." I
don't like fantasy books, books or books that have animals that talk and
solve crimes. I especially won't read book that have animals abused or
children abused. I am not to fond of a lot of violence but I can skip over
that. Bad language and sex scenes don't bother me. Again, if the sex gets
to graphic, I can also skip over it. A lot of violence and things like that
are put in to fill out a book, I think at times.

If you can afford it, you can always order books like Asimov over the
Internet. There are many online used book stores. I use them a lot.

Time to get something done as I had a doctor's appointment this morning.
Talk to you later.

Take care,
Irene
