My apologies for any errors, typos, etc., I'm doing the best I can. . .

I have only been able to glean a few more items over the past hour. . .

8.  Two sources have mentioned that during liftoff some foam insulation
    fell from the fuel tank [which is hundreds of degrees below zero F.
    and struck the left wing.  This may have damaged the wing or shield
    plates, which may have been the earliest pieces that came off.

9.  Since there were no space walks scheduled, or satellite launches, a
    very limited view of the shuttle was available while in orbit so it
    may have gone unnoticed.

I'm guessing I won't have much more to report, there should be national
press conferences in a few minutes.  I'll let you know of anything that
seems of particular interest that isn't repeated.
