Hard to believe we did so much since reaching eBook #5,000 last April!

Thank you for your great service for the community.

It is truly marvelous what you have built.  This project stands to
benefit every American in delivering to them the best teachers from our
creative heritage, and also reaching out to all people around the world.
Truly an ambassador of good will.

As I was thinking on this donation a vision sprang into my head of a world
where control over consumer behavior was strong enough to quash innovation.
The printing press certainly threatened the status quo of its time.
Imagine where we would be without it.

I used eBooks in my Greek History class.  I downloaded Plutarch, Aristotle,
Thucydides and Herodotus.  I found them much easier than hauling around
books, and I could actually *find* paragraphs and quotes within seconds of
them being mentioned, giving me an edge on reinforcing my memory (something
desperately needed at my age...) for my coursework.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
The light is the passion of Michael Hart and the vision of
Project Gutenberg. I have spent the better part of the night
surfing their site and I must commend the efforts and actions of
Michael and his group of volunteers for bringing eBooks to the people.

Project Gutenberg is a phenomenal example of living intentionally and
making it happen and is an inspiration for all of us to
become "drivers" who push progress for eBooks and technology for that
matter instead of being "passengers" or worse yet "back-seat drivers"
who only condemn and complain about the direction they are going.

Project Gutenberg seems to be delivering very promising results and
is building the necessary foundation for an evolution revolution in
education through eBooks and handheld technology. I am looking foward
to the day when students will be able to say "NO to heavy book bags!"
and "YES!" to a virtual library of eBooks and eTextbooks. Thankfully,
we already have the virtual library that is growing daily due to
Project Gutenberg.

Thank you, for your response and much more for all the effort you put in on
Project Gutenburg.
Whenever in conversation someone dismisses computers or the internet, I
point out PG as one of the best things that has been done with the web.  I
keep waiting for some sort of portable reader to come to me so I can carry
your texts to the places I like to read.  I printed up a copy of some of the
E Nesbit books to read to my son because I could not find them in
bookstores.  Even on the screen the texts are tremendously useful.  Being
able to search an entire book for a word in seconds is a dream.  Hooray for
CTRL+F and Hooray for Project Gutenburg!

First of all, thank you for Project Gutenberg and all the
reading matter with which it continues to keep me supplied.

Believe it or not, the PRIMARY reason I bought my Rocket was to read
Project Gutenberg titles.  I had, at the time, downloaded about a
hundred titles saying things like "this looks interesting," "I've always
meant to read that," "Oooh! H. G. Wells' _The World Set Free_! I haven't
read that in thirty years" and found that they were just sitting on my
hard drive.  And it works!  I've probably read twenty or thirty PG
titles on my Rocket and ENJOYED them.
