Print book distributors routinely require a 65-75% discount off cover  
rather than the 55% usually given to wholesalers. This is because  
distributors do more than just ship books; they also actively market  
them. Amazon is essentially acting as a distributor for Kindle books-- 
they're not only actively marketing the reader and content but are  
paying for the wireless connection that allows Kindle owners to get  
that content whenever and wherever. I have no problem paying extra for  
that, which is what the deeper discount is about.
