Yes...in 70`s, the brazilian autorithy government tried a cultural revolution using audiovisual methods (TV)...but was a shame..the people don´t pay atention and the progress are minimum

It's interesting that you bring this topic up, because one barrier I
encountered, when I became partially sighted in 2001, was that my mind
doesn't process audio books with the same effectiveness that it
processes printed text. I eventually realized that I most likely have
auditory processing disorder, which is sometimes linked with
difficulties in processing printed text too, but in my case is not.
Only spoken words give me problems.

However, I discovered that my mind deciphers braille with the same
ease that it deciphers print; apparently, there's some similarity
there, probably having to do with the fact that characters are used in
both cases.

So while I know a lot of blind people who say that they "read" audio
books, in my case, I always use the phrase "listen to," because
reading print and braille are an essentially different process for me
than listening to spoken words.

By the way, this turns out to be a major pain for me as an author,
because (thanks to being introduced to text-to-speech programs out of
necessity, during a period when I couldn't read print with my eyes) I
do use text-to-speech for proofreading. It's a job that I put off
endlessly because I find it so wearisome.
