Many of the things you say in favour of Amazon may well be true; 
many of the things its critics say may well be true also.   What 
I think you are missing is that if Amazon wants the effects of 
55% discount at LSI all it needs to do is make that part of its 
conditions.   Plain.   Simple.  A policy matter for the 
corporation.

But to tell publishers they may only print at their subsidiary 
[whether for all sales or specific ones] is a restrictive 
practice.   It just won't do.   And as with all other freedoms it 
is the first little loss that makes all the rest so easy to lose.

Every big outfit likes to flex its muscles and show its power. 
I believe there is a useful example in David standing up to 
Goliath that we ought to follow.
