I was trying to keep it brief - sorry if I seemed to be saying

And that makes sense? Only if you want the deep cuts for
customers to push brick bookstores into liquidation - thus
sterngthening Amazon's monopoly.
They're saying if you

Which is a restriction of trade, whichever way you cut it.

Well, mostly no, for quite a few ads, and online ones! Big ads
and big business are another matter. The newspaper philosophy,
and the 'new' online marketing wisdom, is to supply a lot of free
information and possibilities to attract browsers, specially if
they are focussed ones. Any action to reduce the appearance of
online choice is counter-productive to that.

Again I say if Amazon is honest and straightforward it should
both be making open statements about its action, and being clear
what the objectives are. It has already denied the majority of
ebook publishers - small or not - a place on their virtual
shelves. Now another group of small publishers who appear
defenceless.
