I think Amazon will pay a great deal to make this work, and continue
to improve it, because it puts an Amazon-bound point-of-sale terminal
in the consumer's pocket or purse, just as the iPhone puts an Apple
sales terminal in your pocket. The fact that this is an ebook reading
device is almost incidental. The fact that the Web browser on it is
so limited seems a happy accident for Amazon, and you have to wonder
if they really want to improve that capability, thereby providing
other merchants a channel.
