People love convenience and instant gratification. That's what the Amazon Kindle offers.
I admire their initiative and smarts in this regard, although I'm still not happy with Amazon's recent policies about forcing BookSurge on publishers. My publisher, Hard Shell Word Factory, uses Lightning Source, which is connected with Ingrams. She doesn't care for the quality of BookSurge and won't change.
I'm not sure how much that will affect my sales. People will often go to a big-name place like Amazon to buy a book when they can go straight to a publisher and get a better deal. It's habit.
