Nothing can 'balance' DRM issues for me, and I'm not speaking as a
rampant idealist on this matter.
I've watched too many people piddle money away on DRM'd ebooks, then
go through bureaucratic and accounting hells trying to get them moved
to a new machine or one of those toys that use Mickeysoft's flaky LIT DRM.
Or when a company goes out of biz without selling out to another
company, of course. What then?

Someone (in this group, I think) said she'd lost a few hundred bucks
worth of ebook purchases because there was no recourse.
I just won't buy any ebook that is encased in any sort of DRM wrapper.
Odds are better than excellent that you'll end up holding a
locked-shut file someday if you don't step outside the law to protect
your investments by converting them to unlocked formats.
Not advocating piracy, just self-protection.
Learn how to make the ebooks you buy *yours* or they'll always belong
to someone else.
