One thing is certain, in my opinion. Amazon can't play too much of
that game in Europe, where the EC enforces anti-trust laws.
Also, some countries have fixed price laws for books, in order to
protect corner-of-the-street book stores from unfair competition
(something that worked well here in France, even if many books are not
sold there). Amazon sells books with the maximum legal rebate - 5%,
which, fortunately, is not really attractive.
