One of the best things you could do is see if your local Best Buy has a Sony Reader on display (mine does). 
 
This way, you can at least evaluate the eInk technology and see if you like it. It should have the standard free e-book already loaded (can't remember which one) so you can get an idea of how it works, looks and, most importantly, if you think you'll like reading books on it.
 
The page does "flash" when you go forward or back, but all e-reading devices using eInk do that.
 
Many people say you don't notice it after awhile. 
 
But, at least you can judge for yourself if they have a display model at your local Best Buy.
 
I'm personally leaning toward the Sony Reader because it is cheaper, looks better and I can walk out of the store with one (after purchase, of course LOL).

According to Amazon, the Kindle is now in stock.I'd like to see one and see how my books look on it.I don't know anyone who has one. Maybe I would like to use it, but don't know until I check it out.I do go for the latest gadgets and love my Iphone.
