The Elusive e-book

I haven't noticed any great surge in my e-book sales, so I'm thinking e-books still have a long way to go. In fact, I don't know very many people who do own e-books. I wish I did, so I could let them know my books are available in that format.
I'm still hoping the Iphone, which is so popular, will provide an easier way to download e-books than pdf.
I've heard people say the younger generation will go the e-book way, but sometimes I wonder if they won't even want to read books. With everything geared toward immediate gratification, do they have the attention span for reading books?
