I think epublishers are offering things paper publishers aren't, maybe
not on a deep literary basis but a pragmatic one.  E-publishers
allowed the female readership for erotica to grow exponentially by
allowing anonymous online purchase, the growth of small presses
catering to their particular needs in that genre and a way to store
books so the inquisive toddler will never find them--not to mention a
way for a lot of stay-at-home moms to make extra income writing erotic
romance.  This is a genre that was pioneered by epublishers and is
still better supplied on line than in store.
