More than a few great artists were made after their deaths: Dickens,  
Bach, etc. No one is saying that anyone has a **right** to make a  
living, only that making "free" the default, in the presence of actual  
costs, may have unintended consequences.

"Free" may be great as a loss-leader, but it's a rather poor long term  
strategy.
