But you do have to consider the irony, given it was B&N, Borders and
the other major chains that turned what was a way of keeping small,
independent booksellers in business to their considerable advantage--
and put a fair number of those booksellers out of business in the
process.
The fact is that the chains are the reason why the percentage of
returns is as high as it is, so if even one of them is willing to look
at ending the practice I'd say it's long over due.
