[2] ADDENDUM [for Sony PRS-fans, not necessarily French-speaking]: 

the French Ebooks-LG items mentioned above appear usually in popular 
formats, including  PDF and (archived) Word-DOC, so that they are 
also readable on the recent Sony toys: PRS-505/510/etc.; 

now, the PDF's from the French E-LG archives are not always ideal 
for PRS-viewing, unless you have very good eyes! [quick expanation: 
the standard PDF-pages, as generated from RTF & so, by Acrobate-ing 
the original, and/or via TeX / DVI / PS, say, can be magnified only 
once, "SMALL-to-MEDIUM'',on a Sony PRS, while the RTFs can be 
resized also to ``LARGE'': this takes some time, yet it works 
nicely, anyway], but one can use the DOCs instead, if available 
(after RTF-conversion); alternatively, there is at least one Sony-
fan around, I think, who managed to convert the full French E-LG 
collection (the two thousand titles or so) to the ``native'' [Sony] 
LRF-format, not too long ago; --- actually, nearly everybody can do 
this, by hand, nowadays, by using appropriate [PD] software, as, 
e.g., the recent

+ [3] A (realistic!?) COMMENT: 

Sony herself doesn't seem to be very eager to give out a soft 
upgrade to her PRS-toys -- such as to make them read ANY kind of 
PDF, for instance, in optimal conditions --, because, of course, 
she'd like to sell her own e-books, first... namely, those in LRF / 
format ``maison'' --- 

yet, if the PRS's are going to invade the market -- beyond US and 
colonies --, which I suspect will be actually the case in the very 
next future, the due software upgrades / modifications -- for the 
Sony toys -- will be eventually available from third parties, and, 
essentially free of charge --- 

so, extrapolating a bit [= ``viewing the future''!], the next 
UCLA/MIT/etc.-generation of maths geniuses, say (to give one 
favorite example) will be soon able to use standard textbooks & most 
of the so-called research literature [PDF/PS, as expected] in local 
public parcs, undergrounds, on the beach (on a vacation with daddy, 
in bermudas, or on the black sea shore, for that matter)...

why bother buying laptops & so, indeed? --- 

for, what you REALLY need is a pocket-sized SCREEN / display, for 
your equations & stuff, to take away, not yet another computing 
engine...

what about the [``research''-] library? --- well, you can have it, 
anyway, on a [Sony] PRS, because the toys I'm talking about are 
equippped to accept one or two 4 GB memory-sticks, at least...
