RE: Nifty Things to Do With a Dual-Display Device

Not a bad concept but it looks like it's really geared more toward text book
/ technical / reference  material.

Whereas the Kindle and Sony Reader, et al, are geared more for a more
linear, fiction based material. When reading a fiction book, you may want to
go back to reread a section, but one usually doesn't need to repeatedly flip
back and forth or compare text.

I'd love to see both kinds of devices personally, then the consumer could
choose.

Something like what is displayed would be great for students of all ages or
people who need reference / technical material while others would probably
stick with a single page device since their reading would be mostly
fictional. 

I'd probably not need a device like that since most of my e-reading is
fiction.

Researchers at Maryland and Berkeley Universities have developed a
dual-display e-reader prototype. And they seem to be using the capabilities
of dual displays in ways more than simply cosmetic (as past 2-page readers
have). Not only can you "turn the page" by manipulating the screens like
you're flipping a page in a book, you can also turn them back to back to
view both sides of a document like a two-sided piece of paper-or you can
separate them to view two different documents simultaneously (including
documents with different aspect ratios so that one would be viewed in
portrait and the other in landscape).
