Since I'm not running the site for profit or with affiliate links, I
think I'm ok to post a follow-up to your question, Rob.

E-Read Indeed ( http://ereadindeed.com ) is going to be similar to
KnowBetter.com in a lot of ways. I will still be posting reviews and
commentary, there will be a forum section for authors, publishers and
writers, etc and so forth. I've added a special section that allows me
to have GuestBlogs, so that authors and pubs can stop by and say what
they want to about ebooks and how they affect them and their business.

BriefRead Indeed was launched this week on the site, which features
reviews of short stories...something I believe no other site is really
covering.

The big thing going on right now is the 365 Days Of FreeReads, with a
different link featured each day to a work that is downloadable or
readable online for free. The hope is to expose readers to a lot of
authors and publishers they may not be familiar with.

So where sites such as Teleread (a GREAT site) tends to focus on the
tech side of things, my site is really more about the content of ebooks,
and getting readers together with authors and publishers. I loved my
time at KnowBetter, but the site owner, out of necessity, was forced to
focus on doing other things to pay his bills and I wasn't feeling the
sense of accomplishment doing the site's content anymore. Now, I have
more control and am also not trying to cover too many areas.

What can publishers and authors do? PARTICIPATE! It drove me insane when
publishers wouldn't use the free services we offered at KnowBetter. I'm
hoping more folks will be interested in marketing and publicizing their
works, events and happenings. All I want is to keep preaching the
gospel of ebooks, and show folks how much great stuff is really out
there. Maybe someday I can make a living out of it, but for right now
it's all in the name of personal accomplishment and pushing the ebook
movement forward.

I'm always open to suggestions, so feel free to drop me a line. I'm
willing to try just about anything on the site if it will help
publishers and authors, so please let me know what I can do to be of
assistance.

Best,
Jay Hartman
