I think you would be doing her a disservice by not at least mentioning
to her the possibility that she might encounter some books from
hostile publishers, so she can prepare for what happens if she does.
(And it might also forewarn her to check comments and tags on e-books
before she buys to see if someone mentions text-to-speech has been
disabled for a given title.)

If she does encounter some, I seem to recall (perhaps wrongly) that
the handicapped were covered by a DMCA exemption allowing the cracking
of DRM to enable the use of text-to-speech if DRM prevents it. The
tools are out there for cracking Mobi-format Kindle books. The others
will probably just be a matter of time.
