Brenna,

The last thing I wanted to do was discourage you from 
bringing these figures or any other information forward, and 
I apologise if my comments seemed in any way to do so.

Information like this is always useful, but having done 
statistics I do draw attention to what figures may mean. I 
have rued for years the lack of reliable figures in 
publishing and reading and poor interpretations of those 
that exist for years.

The changing balances of market supremacy in the commercial 
sides are interesting, but just that - and, as I said, a 
self selecting poll has a different meaning to one conducted 
under the statisitical rules developed through the years. I 
would add the fact that voters were not identified makes for 
greater unreliablity, even if it is the perfect 
confidentiality!

Certainly the rise in dedicated systems and sales of the 
hardware shows how strongly the market is growing, and the 
movements of user approval are important. Though, until the 
prices become realistic, I do not think it has the makings 
of a mass movement. What I wait to see is how both ebook and 
print fare in the recession, and which weathers the storm 
best.
