Chris raises a very important point here. I have never seen 
a convincing argument for increasing the legth of Disney 
[and other visual arts] copyrights, just as I have never 
seen a convincing case for shortening it.

This lends to the idea of bad law, and bad law does get 
ignored. This is the problem with corporations buying and 
selling politicians and governments - but that is another 
area of argument, though pertinent.
