I heard something similar from an old rancher's wife in Texas back in the sixties. The new TV station made a total of four channels she could receive out there and she was torn between a few programs that came on at the same time.
I read something similar in a newspaper article concerning the number of radio stations receivable in Dallas.

Just adjust your drivel filters to handle the new load, haul up your socks, and keep going.
