You're mixing up apples and oranges. But... If you purchase a car from a
dealership, you are buying from a trusted source, and it is assumed they
have their ducks in a row. IF they purchased a stolen car from someone and
resold it, it's going to get interesting. You see, the merchant (dealer)
should have verified that he/she wasn't purchasing stolen goods, in the
first place. Having dealt with them, you are showing your state ID/military
ID and the title and... If you've faked all of that, well...that's fun, but
they can run a check on a VIN...and I believe they do that before making a
deal. Cars are much more traceable than most types of merchandise. If they
are selling a new car, they are purchasing from what THEY assume are trusted
sources. You, as an individual, don't have the same assurances if you're
buying a used car from an individual/previous owner. They sign the back of
the title (which could be a good fake, and you wouldn't know it until you
got to the DMV/RMV) and/or the bill of sale, and you assume they aren't
stealing someone else's identity and/or car and defrauding you. You're
hampered by being an individual, and the source is not a trusted source. But
cars are way too easy to check up on and see if they are reported
stolen...bad comparison.

Use this one. Big Store X gets in a shipment of DVDs that later turn out to
be pirated. They purchased them from a store going out of business and
thought they were legit. They sold them to customers. THOSE customers are
not responsible for or liable for any charges of piracy. They went to Big
Store X and purchased what they thought was a legal copy, from a trusted
source. Now, if that same customer bought that DVD from a street vendor in
NY or from someone in an alley...or downloaded it on Pirate Site A...then
you're not dealing with a trusted source, and in the final case...just
assume it's not legit, right? Insert stolen gold watch and respected jeweler
above, and it works out the same (save pirate site...grinning).

"I found the world Ms. Lyons created to be realistic. Both main characters
had humanistic characteristics but also the genetic makeup of their Xxanian
ancestors as well. I blushed more than once, that’s for sure. CLOSE ENOUGH
TO HUMAN was an exceptional read." Reviewed by Natasha Smith for Romance
