If you bought it for cash from some guy down the street, you 
likely won't get to keep it.

If you bought it from a reputable dealer after getting a 
government supplied used-vehicle information package, you might 
very well get to keep it, even if the dealer was the one who 
stole it.

Treatment of items in this condition depends heavily on both 
context and jurisdiction. That's part of the reason why people 
are likely more upset that this is Amazon - if you can't trust 
Amazon to get ebook details correct, who can you trust?
