Lee, thanks for typing all this out.  It was interesting and informative.  I
had wondered about how .rtf differed from html.

And . . . I agree that it is VERY easy to learn the basics of html.  I'm not
an author but I have to use html sometimes for my job, very basic stuff like
tags for bold or italics or blockquotes, and the general concept is very
simple.  It reminds me a lot of the old WordPerfect 5.1, where you could
"reveal codes" to see what was going on with your document, only instead of
pressing shift-F8 or whatever to put a code into your text, you type a
couple of characters inside angle brackets.  e.g., if you want something in
bold, you just ype a few characters (<b>) at the beginning of the thing you
want to be in bold, and a few characters (</b>) at the end.   (Assuming
anyone remembers WP51)
