Pathetic. I went to small schools of about the same size, and we checked out
that many books in a few days.

Then again, the librarian/reading teacher at my daughter's high school (600
students...and it's an academic challenge school that your grades and
behavior have to be top notch to get into, which I would equate with
READING) says that she loves kids like my daughter (who read 26 books with a
total of 7263 pages over the summer alone...the three kids together read 73
books and a total of 16,359 pages...the schools ask for summer reading logs,
so I do them in Excel). Most of her students read one book every summer,
because they are required to do so for their ELA classes, and they never
venture off the school-supplied list of books. Over the summer, I've found
two YA series that I've turned my oldest onto...Uglies series and Jumper
series. But she also reads adult books, and we share many of those.
