A quick google will turn up loads of instructions for removing DRM  
from ebooks and there's an application called Calibre that does a good  
job of interpreting a bunch of formats and turning them into epubs or  
whatever you want.

I have used Calibre on some pdf files I have and it worked well, but  
haven't tried to remove DRM because it just seemed like too much work.
