Uauuu!!! This is eye-poping! If the typography was important - why not 
the format (line breaks, page breaks, flow around images,...) ?

I don't think the guys that are producing this s... for Amazon are doing 
it by hand - they are probably using the method described on this paper 
- hope you got a patent! One could do much better by scanning the whole 
page, a la Octavo (http://www.octavo.com/). But sure enough, in 
Mathematics at least, it is unreadable as the scanner misses the nuances 
of indexes and exponents, etc ... In the book I bought every "M" with a 
tilde (~) on top was picked up by the scanner as the M alone, since the 
scanning process was probably cropping it way to tight!

Is Jepson's book produced in this way available anywhere ? I looked, but 
could only find it ...
