Re: A first for me

LOL! Been there, done that...sort of. I don't have many lesbian characters,
but... There are other things to complain about, religion and politics most
of all. Have a character that hates someone the reader voted for or show
someone that gives lip service to his faith as a character, and SOMEONE will
complain. I even had one reader complain that my main (white male) character
DIDN'T have major problems with the fact that his heroine was black.
Uh...she was coming from another world, and they had very different culture
clashes than skin color. I don't inherently believe that all I/R couples
have major problems over skin color.

FWIW, a lot of authors and publishers do put on little caution tags, lines
in the blurb, and/or icons that tell readers things like...lack of HEA,
violence, langauge, certain sexual acts/situations (menage by type, lesbian,
gay, anal, etc.)... It's not foolproof. Even if you do that and say there
are lesbian situations (if there are) someone will complain. If it's just
lesbian characters that aren't sexually involved with each other...IMO, let
the reader get a life. You can mark in the tags that it has GLBT content,
but other than that, no...I wouldn't go out of my way to caution anyone,
unless there was romantic/sexual content issues, violence, etc.
