Well, I really don't agree. It is a personal position, and I think the count of words is deceptive. Both languages are part of the Indo-European family, and the development of words makes it clear there are many ways a word can arrive in a language. But what I think is most important is the structure of the language, and its grammar. In that way there is a distinct difference. There is an even more distinct difference when it comes to Latin grammar. The reason I find the point important relates to the reason English is the international language. In a sense it is the real Esperanto!

That was, of course, the reason I disagreed; I  thought it an example that did not help your point. Let me tell you I have opposed DRM since its start. And I made it clear on this list at the time. Like Brenna and most others in writing and publishing, I prefer to trust people, just as I hope they trust me. Which is why I am so concerned that the issue be properly and well presented.

Perhaps it is the first time, then, that you have come across those who are very concerned about both piracy, and the actions of the big publishers and organisations in selling. And people who truly understand publishing from many different angles.

Now that you have explained so much of what you mean, I think we are probably seeking a very similar outcome. But the route to it is through law and the courts, even though, as Mr Bumble says, 'The law is a h'ass'.
