It's hard enough to teach those who are trying to make money at  
publishing books in new or tiny publishing houses understand the  
financial realities of operating in this business. That's the area on  
which I consult, and I have as many clients as I care to work with,  
and often more than I can help, and I only reach a miniscule fraction  
of the 100,000 active publishers in the US.

Trying to educate the general public, when they have no compelling  
interest in the subject, and wishful thinking pushes them toward  
disbelief is probably impossible.

Face it, there are thousands of us out here telling anyone who will  
listen just WHY ebooks really shouldn't be as inexpensive as the  
common wisdom suggests. It hasn't made a perceptible dent.

I even would be surprised if more than a few people here had even  
heard of Dominque Raccah's speech on the topic recently. And she's a  
HUGE name in our business.

Moving the popular version of the world toward a more accurate  
reflection of a complex reality is NOT easy.
