Re: Global eBook Awards

Someone commented to me that she thought I sounded like I have a
problem with other ebook awards in general. I don't, and I want to
make that clear. I have always pointed people to both EPIC and Dream
Realm (when it was up and running...and it saddens me that it's gone
now). I just like to see new awards coming in that complement what is
already out there, that are well presented, and that bring something
new to the awards scene. I'm not looking at this from the standpoint
of someone associated with EPIC, though I am admittedly a fan of the
awards they give there, those I can enter and those I can't. I'm
looking at it from the author and publisher standpoint. Is there
anything presented that would make me want to enter a new, untried
award?

If someone invented a new genre award, like DRA used to be, I would
certainly consider that new and interesting, with a possibility for
longevity...an ebook only award that was specific to (for instance)
romance or mystery or western or historical ebooks. If someone
invented a new language-specific awards...an ebook award open only to
Spanish-language books or French-language books, for instance, I would
consider that new and interesting. As long as the awards were
well-presented, that is. Those are the types of awards I would be glad
to promote for the award hosts and feel no qualms about the fact that
they overlap with other awards I point out to new authors asking for
places to compete.
