Considering you're making a contest for ebook authors and publishers, many
of them already have the tech you're going to offer...or at least the tech
they want to own. The prize might end up being regifted as a contest prize
by the winner. I'm sure there's something every winner would want...some
tech or some software, but you're not going to find a universal one that
everyone wants/needs and be able to give that with confidence. Just my two
cents.

EPIC's New Voices contest for teen writers used to give tech as top prize,
but we realized the problem with that when we ended up with a couple of
young writers that would enter year after year. What happens when they win
more than once? Gift certificates and cash became the preferred prizes.
